Who We Are
Mary Hill Youth and Family Center (MHYFC) is a Class 1, QRTP-Qualified Residential Treatment Program licensed by Ohio Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMAS). We serve all gender and non-binary youth between the ages of 10-17 with complex behavioral health and multi-system needs. MHYFC was designed in cooperation with area child-serving agencies with the goal of expanding capacity for residential behavioral health care in our area! One of our goals is for youth and their families to be able to access intensive services and supports they need in or near their communities. Our 16-bed facility is in the Appalachian region of Southeast Ohio in the rolling hills of Athens County.
Our program is here to provide safe and nurturing care to youth who have experienced complex trauma and to help them learn to safely cope with the myriad of emotional and behavioral issues that often result from such trauma. We serve all genders and are an unlocked facility, so we are unable to accept juvenile sex offenders or sexually aggressive youth. The ages accepted will be dependent on our current milieu. Treatment services include individual, family, and group therapy as well as expressive therapies such as art, movement, music, and recreation. These therapeutic approaches help youth further develop their capacity to self-regulate and provide them with opportunities to build healthy relationships and form trust in others. Our program provides safety and structure to the youth in our care with a 1:5 staff-to-youth ratio, private/single bedrooms, access to 24/7 emergency nursing and/or therapy, and security cameras in shared areas.
At MHYFC, We Believe...
- Learning is a lifelong process
- Positive relationships supply the tools for success
- It is important to respect and value each person’s individual abilities and culture
- Working collaboratively and hearing each other is key to solving problems
- Being present at each moment helps us find hope and stability
We understand that connection, support, and belonging are imperative to the success of the youth’s integration back into their community. We are committed to developing collaborative, wrap-around care for the youth and their family during and after the youth’s residential treatment stay. We strive to build a bridge of service to ensure smooth transitions for the youth and their families as they move from one level of care to another.
MHYFC is CARF accredited. The program was designed in collaboration with regional Children Services partners to support and serve youth and families close to home.
