Manager, Help Me Grow
Integrated Services Behavioral Medicine

“My passion for Help Me Grow comes from a personal space. Things I have shared with very few people. But it has led me to be the person I am today.

When I was 14, I became pregnant and had to make difficult choices due to family conflict. My pregnancy had been kept a secret and I told no one. Until the day I went into labor. My mom took me to the doctors because she had no clue what was going on. My dad worked out of town and flew down the road to make it to me once he found out I was giving birth. My dad was in the delivery room with me reassuring me that everything was going to be okay. I gave birth to my daughter at the age of 15 and it was the start of my freshman year of high school. This also was the beginning of the most important journey of my life. My daughter is the reason I have pushed through adversity and worked so hard to be my best.

At that time in my life, my friends were no longer allowed around me – their parents judged me. Living in a small town I had all kinds of horrible comments said to me. One significant incident happened during math class. My teacher made an example of me during class, she stood in front of the entire class and started talking to the females about making sure they don’t ruin their lives like I did and how I will never be successful. She even stated, “I will just be another person having children and living off the system”. This incident upset me but also is a critical memory to this day. All I could think is, “My life is not ruined, my daughter was the best thing that ever happened to me, and I will be successful.” I also knew I never wanted anyone else to feel the way I did in that moment, and I knew I had the opportunity to be a voice in my community and advocate for others.

I enrolled in the Help Me Grow Home Visiting Program. This is where my passion for the program began. My Home Visitor was amazing, she was kind, she did not judge me, and she made me feel special. She constantly reassured me that I was a good mom and let people talk and prove them wrong. Well, I did prove them wrong. My Home Visitor left a lasting impression on my life.

Being a mother, wife and the Manager of Help Me Grow are my greatest attributes. I want to teach my daughters that hard work and dedication will pay off. I just want my daughters and father to be proud of me.

When I was given the chance to work in the Help Me Grow Program, I took it because this program supported and shaped me into the person that I am. My Home Visitor helped give me the strength to stand up for myself and helped show me people can talk but it means nothing. She had faith in me, and I will forever be thankful for this Home Visitor.

Now I live my life helping others see their full potential. They can break through childhood trauma, be successful and be a successful parent. They CAN!

I am truly honored that I get to serve with my amazing team of Home Visitors. I know how much of an impact they make on our  families. No matter how small the accomplishment, we celebrate and take the win.”
