Reflecting on 2022 with CEO Sam Shafer

Newsletter
/
January 24, 2023

As I reflect back over the last year, I am inspired by the people I have the honor of serving alongside. Each day, the team at ISBH demonstrates their commitment to the communities and people we serve. Over the past year, ISBH has maintained our strong home and community presence serving over 10,000 people in southeast and central Ohio.

In this past year, ISBH responded to the call to increase essential resources and services across the region. The team has worked diligently alongside local, state, and federal partners to roll out new programs such as the Mary Hill Youth and Family Center, SAMHSA Harm Reduction In-Home Medication program and OhioRISE Care Management. Growth for ISBH in 2022 also included the expansion of behavioral health services into three new counties, the addition of new intensive family services, new permanent supportive housing, additional psychiatric capacity and multiple behavioral health and community integration projects.

As we saw the growth of this past year in front of us, we knew it was important to engage in a process of self-evaluation. As a team we are committed to making sure that as our mission grows, we stay curious and responsive to how we can provide the most value to those we serve and to one another. In commitment to this, ISBH has invested in ongoing consultation to support our team in evaluation and strategic planning in areas such as diversity, equity and inclusion, leadership development, financial infrastructure, data analytics, clinical practice and a culture of wellness. I am so excited to see our team’s openness and commitment to these processes and a genuine investment in how we grow stronger as we step forward into this new year together.

I want to thank all of those we serve for trusting us with your care and for giving us the honor of coming alongside you on your journey. To all of our community partners, we thank you for your collaboration and your willingness to learn with us as we all work together to make a difference in the communities we call home. We look forward to this new year together.

With Gratitude,

Sam Shafer
CEO, Integrated Services for Behavioral Health
